Dr. Martinez was co-author of the book chapter entitled "Optimal InLine Measurement Procedures for Counting and Sizing Cells in Bioprocess Technology", Optical Sensor Systems in Biotechnology, Book Series: Advances in Biochemical Engineering Biotechnology, Vol. 116, Springer, ISBN: 978-3-642-03469-5, pages 125-142, 2010.

Dr. Martinez was appointed for two years as the Director of the Graduate Program in Electrical Engineering, School of Electrical Engineering, University of Costa Rica.

Dr. Martinez presented a poster entitled "Three Dimensional Cell Counting for In-Situ Microscopy" at the IAPR 19th International Conference on Pattern Recognition 2008 (IAPR ICPR-2008), Tampa, Florida, USA, December 8-11, 2008.

From October 30th to November 16th Dr. Martinez was visiting the "Institut fuer Informationsverarbeitung" (TNT) at the University of Hannover, Germany. During his visit he also participated as a member of the PhD evaluation committees for Patrick Mikulastik and Marcel Merkel.

The licenciate student Andrew Sheehy gave a talk entitled "Region and Contour Based Cell Cluster Segmentation Algorithm for In-Situ Microscopy" at the IEEE International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and Automatic Control (CCE 2008), Mexico City, Mexico, November 12-14, 2008.

A new paper entitled "Three-Dimensional Cell Counting for In-Situ Microscopy" was accepted for publication at the IAPR 19th International Conference on Pattern Recognition 2008 (IAPR ICPR-2008), Tampa, Florida, USA, December 8-11, 2008.

A new paper entitled "Region and Contour Based Cell Cluster Segmentation Algorithm for In-Situ Microscopy" was accepted at the IEEE International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and Automatic Control (CCE 2008), Mexico City, Mexico, November 12-14, 2008.

A new paper entitled "Online Monitoring of Microcarrier Based Fibroblast Cultivations with In situ Microscopy" has been published in Biotechnology and Bioengineering, Vol. 99, No. 1, January 1, 2008.

From June 7th to June 10th 2007 Dr. Geovanni Martinez was in Sao Pablo, Brazil, participating in an Alumni Reunion Event organized by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

From March 26th to April 1st Dr. Martinez was visiting the "Institut fuer Informationsverarbeitung" (TNT) at the University of Hannover, Germany. During his visit he also participated as a member of the PhD evaluation committee for Onay Urfalioglu.
